A Brief History of Drogen Electric Supply

In 1949 Paul and Mildred Drogen opened their first, small, customer-oriented electrical supply house. In it's 60 year history, Drogen Electric Supply has seen many changes.

Beginning in a small shop in the middle of Main Street that is now an open-air commons, Drogen Electric Supply provided a variety of goods from electrical supplies to vacuums and even a few appliances.

As business grew, so did the need for floor space. A new store was established further down Main Street that provided the room for that growth. Then when Interstate 88 was built the business was forced to move again.

In a suprising, and some said crazy, move Drogen Electric Supply established one of the first businesses in the now-booming Southside area of town. There, with plenty of room to expand, the business boomed! Branching out into home furnishings and large and small appliances while still holding on to it's roots in residential and commercial electrical supplies, Drogen Electric Supply became known simply as Drogen's.

As product offerings broadened, still more space was needed and a second building was build on Southside to house just the electrial supply business.

Now, as a separate enterprise, Drogen Electric Supply finds its new home on Oneonta's River Street where it continues to grow and thrive even better than it did almost 60 years ago!
